Get to know your soap(er) - July/August 2026

Woweeee we have been busy!

We had Buffalo Trail Days in Epping in early July. We got to partner with Tioga Drug in Tioga and the Lewis and Clark Trail Museum in Alexander. You can shop some of our more popular scents in there! We got to partake in Grain Palace in Ray and met some awesome people. We got to interview with the Crosby Journal and should be expecting that to come out in a few weeks…And now we’re gearing up for McGregor this weekend and possibly Flannel Fest next month at the Lewis and Clark state park!

Because of the effort of coming up with questions and how busy our lives can be, the decision has been made to do the “Get to know your Soap(er)” every two months instead of monthly. It’s something I want to keep up with and it’s been difficult to achieve it every month.

Thanks to the events in Epping and Ray,  we have our first frequently asked question thanks to the 100°+ days….

Do our soaps melt?

No. And if they do, it’s gotta be insanely hot or my bars have been shredded.

Earlier in July we saw 104°, and while we were thankfully in the shade, the most my soaps had was a very light sweat. If I made Melt and pour soap instead of my cold process method, then I bet we would have seen more melting. Melt and pour is where you chunk up a soap base, nuke it in the microwave (or double boil if we’re fancy) and then add in color and fragrance. It’s like using a box mix cake instead of making a cake from scratch. They both taste good and have their own benefits, but one controls the ingredient more.

Where do you get your packaging?

   I make all my labels myself. The “cigar bands” for the soaps I made all myself on apple Pages and Cardstock. The stickers are just Avery Labels and my new packaging for my shaped soaps are bags I ordered for baked goods. I try to have as little items as possible that isn’t eco-friendly/compostable.

Where do you get your displays?

   All my soap displays are my wooden loaf molds for my soap. On the table are my 1lb, 3lb and 5lb loaf molds. The only thing missing from them when they’re on my table is the washable silicone liner.

The display I have for my loofas and soap saving pouches are from Amazon, but that’s because I didn’t have the time to make my own. Anybody who knows me knows I’d rather make something if given the opportunity.

Where do you make your soap?

   I make everything in our home. We have a small 900sq ft home so space is limited and things are scattered throughout the home. I make soap in our kitchen, cure/store/package it in our laundry room. The labels are made in the office/porch. Mixing bowls/utensils, fragrances and colorants are stored in our porch as well. And all our oils are stored in our mud room. I make do with the space that I have and have dreams of having a designated soaping space some day.
